Support Others, Don't Be Bitter

There's a Facebook page that I'm a fan of, called Music Photographers.  It's basically what the title says - a fan page for music photographers.  Mostly people posting some of their concert shots and talking about band release forms they're made to sign if they want to shoot, and why they won't sign them.  Pretty innocuous.

PhotoWhoa - a photo deals site

There are daily deals sites all over the web.  Groupon, Woot, LivingSocial...I could go on and on about them.  There are a few photo daily deal sites around, but I was recently made aware of PhotoWhoa.

According to Kevin Tang, one of the co-founders, "PhotoWhoa is a daily deals site for photographers. Think of them as a Groupon specifically for photography products. They feature highly discounted photography items generally over 50% off retail price."

It's Not Just About the Big Tricks

I absolutely love watching extreme sports, especially skiing, snowboarding, and motocross.  And I'm not talking about races, I'm talking about tricks.  I love watching Moto-X even though I'm convinced those guys are all going to kill themselves, I love watching Shaun White get big air,and I love watching ski jumping.

Winter Dew Tour: Up Close and Personal

I recently had the opportunity to attend the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge as a credentialed media photographer.  I didn't bring my skis with me as I didn't trust myself with my skis and my photo gear, although after doing a lot of walking this weekend, I wish I had.

Photo Friday: Windowpane Guitarist

Windowpane is a hard rock band from Seattle who opened up for Queensryche when they were here in Denver (well, they're opening for Queensryche on their whole tour I believe).  I hadn't processed any of my photos from that September shoot until last night, and found this one of Tony Abreu, the Windowpane guitarist that I thought looked cool in b&w.  I used Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 for the processing.

Off Camera Flash - Kid in the Leaves

We spent Thanksgiving Day with really good friends of ours, and they had asked me beforehand if I could take a family portrait of everybody.  It was the first time since one of their son's weddings last year that the whole family was together.  I tossed a couple Speedlites in my camera bag, with my Pocket Wizards, and some softboxes, and got a nice family photo of them.

FIS Nor-Am Cup at Loveland Ski Resort

Last weekend, and continuing on Monday and Tuesday, the FIS (Fédération Internationale de Ski, or International Ski Federation in English) held the FIS NorAm Cup races at Loveland Ski Resort.  The resort isn't that far from me, being a little less than an hour), and I decided since it was now winter, I needed to start shooting winter sports.
